Why I keep coming back to Brilliant

I’ve tried a dozen learning apps. Most of them either move too slow or throw walls of text at you. Brilliant isn’t like that. It’s built around puzzles and interactive lessons that make you think, not just memorize. The first time I used it, I spent an hour on a single logic problem without even noticing. That’s rare for me.

The app covers math, data science, and coding. But it’s not a video lecture platform. You actually solve problems as you go. In the coding track, for example, you don’t just read about loops and conditionals — you drag blocks or write small snippets to make things happen. The feedback is immediate. Get it wrong, and the app shows you why. Get it right, and it pushes you further. It’s like having a patient friend who only speaks in puzzles.

What stands out most is the design. Every lesson feels like a game. The visuals are clean, the animations are smooth, and the difficulty ramps up naturally. You’re never stuck for long because hints are built right in. I especially liked the “Math Fundamentals” section. It starts with basic number sense and builds up to probability and logic in a way that actually clicks. No fluff, no filler.

There are downsides. The free version is limited — you get a handful of lessons per month, and then you’re locked out. The full subscription isn’t cheap, either. And if you prefer long-form reading or video lectures, this might feel too hands-on. But that’s also the point. Brilliant forces you to engage, not just watch.

Who’d enjoy this? Anyone who likes brain teasers, or wants to sharpen their thinking without sitting through a class. My tip: start with the “Logic Puzzles” section. It’s short, addictive, and shows you what the app does best. If you like it, the math and coding courses are waiting.
