Your kid's school life, on your phone

If you've got a kid in a district that uses Infinite Campus, you've probably already gotten a few frantic texts: "Mom, what's my grade in math?" or "Dad, did you see the field trip permission slip?" Campus Parent is the official app for that backend system, and it basically puts the entire school dashboard in your pocket.

The main screen shows you a timeline of recent activity—new assignments posted, attendance flags, or announcements from teachers. Tap into any student (if you have more than one) and you can see their full schedule, current grades, and even past report cards. The gradebook view is the real draw: it breaks down each class by assignment, with scores, weights, and running totals. You can spot a slipping grade before it becomes a surprise at parent-teacher conferences.

Attendance is handled clearly too. Each day shows a color-coded status—green for present, red for absent, yellow for tardy. If your kid checked in late, you'll see the exact time. There's also a section for fees and fines, which is handy when you get that vague email about "outstanding balances." You can pay directly through the app, no separate portal required.

Notifications are configurable per student. Want a ping only when grades drop below a C, or every time a new assignment is posted? You can set that. The app also lets you message teachers directly, though the interface feels a bit buried—look for the little speech bubble icon on the class detail page. One thing to note: the app's design hasn't changed much in years, and it shows. Menus can feel clunky, and sometimes it takes an extra tap to find what you need. But for a free tool that saves you from logging into a desktop site every day, it does the job.

This is for parents who want visibility without the hassle of checking a school website. If your district supports it, download it, set up notifications for the classes that matter most, and let the app do the reminding.
